Forgive the week or so hiatus from blogging. I'm sure you have all been very disappointed. Here's an update in various areas of my life:
Place of residence: no longer at my parents (three cheers! love the parents. don't love living at home.) Now I'm living at a house my parents own in Provo affectionately called Brick House. It is quite appropriate that I should live here because in high school, my theme song was "Brick House" by the Commodores. Brick House has been in the family for about 30 years. It was previously owned by my grandfather and it has been the place of residence of my parents, almost all of my dad's siblings and their spouses, my two older siblings, and numerous cousins. I'm happy I can now carry on the tradition of Siebachs living in Brick House. It is about time. :)
Work: still there. I've decided I don't like commuting to work, and I'm only driving from Provo to Orem.
School: Because I'm working full time, I'm only taking one class: French 322 with a fantastic Professor, Dr. Unlandt, who has eyebrows that look like large hedges. But he is really great, not to mention brilliant. It's a grammar/writing class, so I'm really excited to focus all my energy into really learning the material. School is great.
Rugby: It has finally started, but it is really weird with so many teammates on missions. I'm excited to be back, but there are a lot of question marks right now as far as who's going to play where and so on. But I still love the sport and the team-- that won't change any time soon.
So there's my update. Now onto more interesting things--
I don't have TV at my apartment, much to my dismay, so I wasn't able to watch the Republican National Convention, so I looked up the video a few days ago of the speeches-- I was particularly interested to hear from Sarah Palin. Along with probably 90% of the country, I had no idea who she was until about a week ago. But after doing some research and hearing her speak at the RNC, I am quite intrigued. After learning her background, I like that she is from a small town in Idaho, served on the city council and mayor of a city with 7,000 people in the middle of Alaska, and her husband is a snowmobile champion. I like that she has the groundedness of small town America but still has ambition. I like seeing a woman who is both the soccer mom (well, I guess hockey mom in Palin's case) and willing to try and make a difference in her city as mayor, state as governor of Alaska, and now country as VP candidate. To me, she just doesn't seem like the typical elitist politician you'll usually see in Washington, which is more than mildly refreshing. The more I learn about her, the more I like her. Feel free to disagree...

I have missed your hiatus and I agree on Palin. The RNC was very entertaining. I had no idea Rudy Guiliani could make me laugh! I want to see a picture of the Brick House...(the song's playing in my head right now!)
