Yesterday was a big day... I'm officially legal. That's right... drinking and gambling can now legally be added into my repertoire of possible activities. I suppose turning 21 would mean more if I weren't LDS... but then again, if I weren't LDS, let's be honest, I probably would have done those things already. That aside, I had a great birthday. A couple friends and I headed out to Wendover after I got off work so I could try my hand at the slot machines. Along the way, we stopped at a gas sation so I could buy some beer just because I could. Okay, okay... not really. Here's how it really went:
My day was full of friends and fun, but also by a cold that was not welcome. But even that couldn't put a damper on things. I went to lunch with some people I work with, went on a hike with Janelle and Talya somewhere along the Alpine Loop in the beautiful fall weather, and came home to surprise party full of great friends. Then I headed up to my parents house to congratulate my cousin Sammy for getting his mission call. It was great. It was fun. I couldn't ask for anything more. I am surrounded by amazing people.
Birthdays are a reflective day for me too. It interesting to look back on where you've been on your previous birthdays and how much you change from year to year. But I think birthdays are also a time to look forward into the possibilities of the coming year.... and think this one will be particularly exciting. So here's so another year and another 365 days of adventures!
