he is married to my aunt. her name starts with t. (actually, it starts with n, but the name i call her starts with t.) and she is also great. and today is her birthday. joyeux anniversaire!
these two people are amazing and i am grateful to have them in my life. not only do they feed me and provide a roof over my head, but they teach me.
my, do they teach me.
uncle b teaches me how to be more considerate. aunt t teaches me how to defend my beloved yankees. uncle b teaches me how to be more positive. aunt t teaches me how to produce delicious food. uncle b teaches me how to play tennis. aunt t teaches me how to show patience as she endures my extremely slow learning curve of... just about everything. and they both teach me how to be happier. how, you ask? i shall tell you. but first, a quote:
"your happiness will be in proportion to your charity and to your kindess and to your love of those with whom you associate here on earth." --president george albert smith.
when i first read this a few weeks ago, my mind immediately thought of aunt t and uncle b. they are two of the greatest examples of continual service i know. whether it is in the home, at church, at school, at work, or in the community, they are both constantly showing concern for others. it's no wonder why they are so happy. and as i've associated with them these past months, i've also become happier as i've tried to follow their examples of service.
so to aunt t and uncle b, happy 29th birthday to you both.
and thank you.
