musings...

the country musician josh turner came out with a new song fairly recently entitled "time is love." over the past week, this song has consistently been running through my head, and for good reason.  i love the sentiment this song articulates: the way to express true, genuine love for others is with action, not just with words.  it seems that in today's world of packed schedules and reduced live interaction at the hands of texting, fbook, and other technologies, time is a most precious commodity.  as such, i am finding that the gift of uninterrupted interaction is one of the greatest ways to show love for others. just as faith is a principle of action, love is likewise an active way of being, not simply a thought or feeling.

i am certainly far from perfect when it comes to doing this, but i am making a conscious effort to be more engaged and in the moment with those around me.  i know how much i enjoy it when those i am with are more than simply warm body in the room, so shouldn't i try and be the same? less texting, more face to face talking.  less time on the computer, more time with people.  less time thinking about about how great people are, more time loving people for how great they are.

to echo the words of one much more intelligent than i:

"they do not love who do not show their love."
