I read the back cover, sat down and read the first few pages, and was hooked. I finally was able to finish it tonight and in short:
This book changed my life.
If you, like me, have always liked the idea of having your own produce and buying local but didn't know exactly how to do it, you should read this book. OR if you aren't convinced on why buying local is important and ultimately better for you and the country as a whole, you should read this book. I will be happy to lend you my copy.
I now want a garden, chickens, bees, and a dog more than ever before. AND, I am sold on buying as local as possible.

1. I love that we were blogging in sync.
2. I love that you love this book too and have decided all the same things I did when I finished it. Did I tell you that this fall I started buying my eggs and honey and whatever I could at the farmers market? too bad I don't have endless supplies of canned foods in my house like she did.
3. Let's make cheese when I get back.
4. Don't let jaime pick a bad wedding dress.
I'm going to have to pick up a copy. I've wanted to have chickens for a long time. Too bad the groundhog ate my garden.
Hope the Europe withdrawal is going okay!
I think one also needs sheep, a cow, and a pig- for wool, milk @ butter, and pork chops!
Then, one needs a loom, a butter churn, and a friend who's a butcher!
And, THEN, one needs a coolies farm- with a pond, stream, and woods- and fields, and a big barn!
Hmmmmmmmm- I guess one needs PA!
Love, Mom
Thanks for the recommendation. Have you seen Food, Inc. That'll reinforce the buying local, etc -- if it doesn't put you completely off all food!
Isn't your Dad Barbara Kingsolver in reverse drag? I mean, his garden is larger than Scera Park.
