Ever wondered why Moses hiked a mountain in order to receive the Ten Commandments? I think one of the reasons is because mountains provide an opportunity to remove ourselves from the stresses of world. But more importantly, mountains give perspective-- a more complete view of the world and our proper place in it.
After living in Texas for almost four months, I miss few things about Utah. But I do miss the mountains. I miss being able to drive ten minutes to a trail head, hike for a few more minutes (or hours, depending on the day), and boom! You've got perspective. Couple perspective with nature and you've got yourself a powerful, rejuvenating experience that helps sort out priorities and work out problems. So mountains, I'm excited to see you soon, hike your trails even if it requires strapping snowshoes to my feet, and gain a little more perspective.
