In the past 48 hours I have eaten the following: 1 cup of applesauce, some cream of wheat, some saltines, all washed down by 5 cans of sprite. Gotta love the flu, eh? My 12 year streak of not throwing up came to a crashing halt yesterday, and I have to say I haven't missed throwing up one bit. If only time would stop when you got sick. But nope, you still have the tests, the papers, and the homework to do. But now, you just get to do all those things with the headaches, the chills, the stomach cramps, and a bowl by your side just in case you feel the need to hurl. Ahhh well.... such is life. At least the weather was nice today and the sun doesn't go down until 7:30 now, which means summer is coming. Hooray.
And now here's my soapbox for the day. UVSC's spring break started this week. Am I jealous? That's an understatement. Instead, we BYU students have to endure four months of school, from January to April, with only 2 days off, with those 2 days coming within 6 weeks of the semester starting. Essentially, we go to school for about 9 weeks without a break. Do you think the administrators realize how physically, mentally, and emotionally taxing this is for their students? And you know, you would think that the university sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints would celebrate, even for just a day, the most important event that has ever occurred in the history of mankind, that of course being the atonement and resurrection of Jesus Christ. But no, there is no Spring Break, no Easter break, not even Good Friday Break to speak of. Ironic? Just a little bit. You can see it on the faces of the students as you walk around campus. We are all tired and drained. All we want is some good sleeps and a little bit of fun. I guess it's comforting to know that 30,000 other people are suffering with you. There is no doubt in my mind that if BYU would just give us even just a slight break, just a Thursday and Friday off, not only would we all get a chance to recuperate, but I'm sure that the grades at the end of the semester would be a lot better. I know mine would be. But as it is, I'm getting burned out and can't wait for summer to come. Not a great feeling with tests and finals bearing down on you. But I shall persevere, even if my grades are sub-par. Right now it's kind of just about survival. And honestly, if BYU isn't going to give its students any spring break while still expecting us to succeed, the LEAST they could do is sell caffeine on campus to help us stay awake for all the studying we have to do. I mean, seriously. Okay, enough complaining. Time to hit the books.

I think BYU doesn't have spring break because they don't want their students going to a beach somewhere and throwing up for other reasons! I'm so sorry you're sick. That is the pits! Hope you get better soon.
agreed.
